Alaska fish, wildlife get $35 million boost

Alaska will receive about $35 million of some $741 million to be split among all 50 states to fund fish and wildlife conservation, boater access and the education of boaters, anglers and hunters, Interior Department Secretary Ken Salazar announced this week. More than $20.2 million will go toward sport fish restoration in Alaska, with more than $14.2 million for wildlife restoration.

Species and environmental conservation is almost always a complex issue with many stakeholders, which can make knowing the right information and taking the correct actions very difficult.  We should try to fully understand "non-eco-friendly" people's points of view before vilifying them.  Sometimes they have very good reasons - or what may seem like very good reasons to them - for acting the way they do toward wildlife and conservation.  Such cases require mutual understanding and education to pave the road toward policies that benefit humans and animals equally, for generations to come.
