Because of PETA, I'm inviting you to join me in having an extra hamburger this weekend.
The gadfly animal-rights group has grabbed another herd of headlines, this time by getting an explicit ad "banned" from airing in Sunday's Super Bowl telecast on NBC.
And PETA has done it in its time-honored fashion, winning attention not with the logic of its cause but with one more sensationalist public display of women as sex objects.

PETA's objectification and exploitation of women in its promotional materials (like the barely-clothed women in the publicity stunt shown above) is just one more reason why I, er, STRONGLY dislike the organization. (Ok, ok, I admit it, I kind of think PETA is evil.) We're all entitled to our opinions, right?

Nice title. However, the post says nothing about the ad making mockery of their own cause. Thanks for wasting my time.
You must have missed the line that says, “Click here for the full article.” If you follow that link, you will have the opportunity to read the author’s full explanation of why he believes PETA’s advertising techniques make a mockery of their cause.

Seemed clear to me.
I hate PETA, but I like their ads!
(Aust) ABC’s Gruen Transfer showed this ad on a show about meat industry advertising. Gruen’s host, Will Anderson, is a vegetarian.
Would the ad be less sexist if it had shown some chiselled male bodies too?
Their ads ARE eye-catching.
But yeah, I think the ads would be, if not sexist, exploitative if they used chiseled male bodies instead of female bodies. But I’m more apt than most to be offended at the use of sex appeal to sell oneself or a product. Call me prudish, eh?
Great way of thinking and another reason to not think about the way we treat animals.
You can dislike PETA but why would you eat an extra hamburger because of that?
We exploit animals without even thinking one second about it. That’s stupid!
