In case you’re not familiar with Nickelodeon’s Wonder Pets franchise, it’s an educational children’s show about three animals that save baby animals all across the world. The main characters of the show are Linny the guinea pig, Tuck the turtle, and Ming-Ming the duckling aka The Wonder Pets. The show follows a formula of getting to and saving baby animals all the while learning about teamwork and the baby animal’s native country through song and dance.
Save the Animals marks the Wonder Pets’ first outing on the DS. Developer Black Lantern Studios, Inc. has worked on several Dora and Diego games (also Nickelodeon properties), so an educational Wonder Pets game for DS should be a walk in the park right? Well, Save the Animals is indeed about as exciting and eventful as walking through a very familiar, uninspired park.

The game might not be getting good reviews, but that TV show is AWESOME. I don’t care how old and cynical you are- you gotta love a show about a guinea pig, duckling, and turtle who moonlight as superheroes who save baby animals WHILE SINGING AND DANCING. Wonder Pets = Epic. Watch it this week.
