gooseGrade me!

by kittymowmow on October 9, 2008

Hey guys, now you can edit my grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and even contradict my wild claims on www.KittyMowmow.com.   If you see a mistake, all you have to do is click on the square red-and-white “gooseGrade” button near the top right of each page. Then follow the easy directions to quickly tell me when I’m being dumb. Your suggested changes will lower my gooseGrade (oh no!) until I do something about it. See? You CAN change the world!

So why is this called gooseGrade?  What do grades have to do with geese?

To find out, I asked gooseGrade’s CEO, John Brooks Pounders.  He says he named the grading system after geese because:

  1. In school, you don’t want to get a “goose egg” (a score of zero) for your grades
  2. Mother Goose.  She taught you all sorts of interesting things when you were a kid.  Now gooseGrade can teach you interesting things on the internet.
  3. Utilizing the literary device of alliteration, repeating the same sounds in closely connected words.  gooseGrade = 2 “g” sounds close together.
  4. Geese fly 70% further when they work together in a V formation.  If everyone on the internet works together to improve each website and provide the most well-written and accurate information possible, everyone will benefit.

While we’re talking about geese, let’s look at some goose-related headlines:

  1. Prehistoric Giant Goose Skull Found - OMG!  It’s a gargantuan, monster goose with TEETH!
  2. Geese are game on golf course - The ancient battle of goose vs. golfer continues.
  3. Millions of snow geese imperil fragile ecosystem - Losing their breeding grounds to expanding farmland forces geese to infiltrate and destroy other areas.
