Why My Cat Tore Up the Rug This Weekend

by kittymowmow on September 24, 2008

Macaroon tore up the rug!I flew to Las Vegas this weekend to attend the Blog World Expo.  I asked my roommate to keep an eye on my cat, Macaroon, and asked another friend to stop by as often as he could to check her food and litterbox and to pat her on the head.  He really likes Macaroon and enjoys petting and holding her…awwwwww…

But all my plans and consideration just weren’t enough to satisfy Macaroon.  She developed such a bad case of separation anxiety that she meowed constantly and kept my roommate awake.  When my roommate tried to put her in my room at night, Macaroon ripped tufts out of the rug at the base of the door, trying to get out.

I think she does this because she loves and misses me too much, which is very sweet, but I can’t let her damage my roommate’s condo.  The next time I go out of town and can’t take her with me, I’ll have to board her at a veterinary office.  I’ll inspect the local veterinarians pretty soon to make sure I know of a good one well in advance of my next trip out of town.

Oh yeah, I mentioned the Blog World Expo.  I met a lot of great people there and also learned some new ways to make this blog better. I wish I had more time to devote to this blog and to devote to you, the reader.  I’m still in college (this final year is keeping me busier than I expected) and work a part-time job (as a reporter for Public Radio, woo hoo!).  I’m sure you can understand how that limits the amount of time I can spend on Kitty Mowmow’s Animal Expo (I know, I know, I owe you guys some more podcasts).  For now, school has to be my number one priority.

To make up for my busyness, Animal Expo associates Lauren and JB have been helping me scour the internet for relevant, interesting, animal-related info and posting it to the site.  They do a great job, but I’m asking your for your help in making this Kitty Mowmow’s Animal Expo something you really love.

I’m asking you, nay, CHALLENGING you, to submit your original content or links to existing content to Kitty Mowmow’s Animal Expo.  We’re looking for ANYTHING related to animals: original news reports, videos, short stories, podcasts, poems, scientific discoveries, radio programs, product reviews, student term papers… anything, from all ages, subjects, demographics, languages, and countries.  If it involves a member of the animal kingdom, Kitty Mowmow’s Animal Expo wants to share it.  So what do you get out of this?  I’m open to suggestions, but for now, if we select your content for the site, I promise to do my best to spread the word about how awesome you are, and you will also be entered in a drawing for a soon-to-be-announced prize.

Send submissions and feedback to email@kittymowmow.com.  I can’t wait to hear from you!

In closing, I’d like to leave you with this random animal photo.
