John Shadd’s interest in whitetailed deer began long before he graduated from Union County High School in 1953.
He grew up hunting in the rural county.
Shadd now describes himself as “previously a hunter.”
Today his hobby is raising whitetails as stock animals on a game farm he developed on his former cattle farm outside Lake Butler. The deer are destined for breeding or release in a hunting preserve.
