Record number of dogs dive in at Pooch Plunge

Jake and Vanessa Meyer’s dog Fin isn’t exactly a canine Michael Phelps, but thanks to City Park Pool’s Pooch Plunge, he at least has a chance to test the waters.

Fin, a 2-year-old vizsla, was one of a record number of about 400 dogs who plunged - or in Fin’s case fell - into City Park Pool for the fifth annual end-of-summer gathering.

“It’s awesome. We told everyone we know who has a dog to come,” Vanessa Meyer said as her 1-year-old son, Cooper, pointed at Fin falling into the pool.

The Pooch Plunge has grown in popularity during the past five years, and dog owners in attendance said it is a good example of Fort Collins’ pet-friendly mentality.
