Females from at least one other species besides our own will sometimes go to great lengths — even putting themselves in harm’s way — to avoid sexual harassment by males, according to a new study.
Trinidadian guppies of the female persuasion, for example, would rather risk being eaten by predators that hang around with obnoxious males in search of sexual favors, the study found.
Biologists have long observed that females of numerous species will distance themselves from pushy would-be partners, but they have disagreed as to why.
