"Dog Days" usually refer to the miserably hot weather of midsummer.
Fortunately for the Fairfield Area Humane Society, the weather for its "Dog Days of Summer" at Alley Park was more pleasant, and the event raised almost $1,000 for the society.
Dog-lovers and their dogs gathered at the park for an afternoon of food, raffles, contests and some time outdoors. Visitors could enjoy hamburgers and homemade cookies while filling out raffle tickets for various items, many with pet themes.
