An abandoned newborn sea lion got her first swimming lesson last week from a teacher without any fins.
Ella, a 47-day old California sea lion pup, took her first swimming lessons at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom’s Sea Lion Stadium pool Friday with the help of a trainer.
The 26-pound sea lion was recently given a clean bill of health after a mandatory quarantine period.
Ella was born on June 16 and she was abandoned shortly after her mother gave birth to her on a beach in Santa Barbara.
The mother was apparently scared off by well-intentioned but unknowing passers-by, according to Six Flags.
