And so they call it puppy love

It was old hat for Briget, a standard black poodle who gave birth to nine puppies last Wednesday at the Marathon home of Cora Baggs and Drew Caterson.

Veterinarians say she’s had several litters already, the stress of which has aged her prematurely. But she was in a loving home this time, not an overcrowded warehouse Stand Up for Animals Director Linda Gottwald described as reeking of ammonia.

Briget is just one of 46 dogs confiscated last month from Sixth Day Dog Ranch owners Tom and Marni Jones, who were selling “golden doodle” puppies – half standard poodle, half golden retriever — over the Internet for $1,500 each. The dogs — poodles, retrievers and their puppies — were taken after Gottwald received tips they were being kept at an Aviation Boulevard warehouse for breeding.

All but two of the dogs have been adopted — and 28 puppies have been born to pregnant dogs seized during the raid. Another pregnant poodle is expected to give birth within days, Gottwald said.

I wouldn't know – you should probably contact them again and ask. :)

My heart is broken over this news. I had one of the Sixth Day Ranch Goldens as well. I had a special relationship to the Sixth Day Ranch, because I was getting my dog for a service dog. We had some odd times with the family, but I really wanted to be their friend and understand why they did things the way they did. I know that everyone does things different, so I was willing to understand the differences. I was thrilled to bring our Golden home, but since we had a special purpose for our dog, I started her in training right away. After spending thousands of dollars on my dog in training, the trainer said that she would never be a service dog. Then after spending all that money, we came to realize that we needed to just love her as our pet. To our horror, our dog came down with cancer and died quickly. I was heart broken. We have lots of pictures from the family of her and pictures we took, I just feel like our little one has gone to heaven. I am just shocked that this has happened to this family. I really would like to hear their statement on all of this. Has anyone got a statement from them, saying why all of this has happened?
