Canadian animal advocates upset bunny killings going unpunished

Animal rights advocates say rabbit haters are using poison, sharp objects and even dogs to control a growing bunny population in Kelowna. But authorities won’t do much to stop the carnage.

The creatures are considered an invasive species in B.C. and can be killed without a permit.

Jim Corbett, with the Conservation Officer Service for the Okanagan, said it is an offence to poison rabbits but it would be an extremely low priority for them.

The latest slaughter of wild rabbits has angered members of The Responsible Animal Care Society or TRACS.

More than a dozen bodies have appeared on a three-acre property in recent weeks.
