Here's a link to the original story that was in the Sun Tribune:
http://www.kccommunitynews.com/articles/2008/02/21/sun_tribune/news/doc47bc4c699d595102723422.txt

I think the link for the story in the KC Star has been discontinued.

Hi Nibby,

This is the original link for that article: http://www.kansascity.com/news/neighborhood/northland/story/490355.html

I suspect the article has been removed from this newspaper's website. I've noticed that some other newspapers will remove articles from their websites after a certain period of time has passed since they were published. I'm not sure why they do this.

I suppose one way I could verify the story would be by producing evidence that I exchanged emails with Kirk Forslund, who is mentioned in that article. I also interviewed him over the phone.

It would be nice if you could depend on web links always being active, but sometimes they change. I hope this information helps you though.

"Hungarian researchers used a software system and neural network to map a variety of dog barks--initiating play, warning a stranger, threatening an opponent, and other signals. The system was able to correctly identify the situation in which each bark was uttered, with some variation in accuracy. Their findings suggest some interesting conclusions about individual dog personalities and a "universal language" understood across breeds and between packs, as well as interactions with humans." (http://news.cnet.com/8301-9373_3-9852834-55.html which links to http://technology.newscientist.com/article/dn13197-computer-decodes-dog-communication.html)

the link to the article results in a 404. a search on "bull terrier" at the site of the link results in no search results corresponding to the italicized text. a search for the link at waybackmachine also results in no articles corresponding to the italicized text.

it would be nice to have a way of verifying that the italicized text is actually what was published.
