Sentence sends ’strong message’ - Animal rights activists have a new hero — Judge Henry Hudson

“His career is maybe thrown away, surely curtailed,” said John Goodwin, manager of animal fighting issues for the Humane Society of the United States. “It sends a strong message to people involved in dogfighting. This is a dead-end activity and a career killer.”

“We think it’s pretty good,” said Dan Shannon, assistant director of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. “Considering the recommendations were 12 to 18 months, going above that shows that the judge really takes this case seriously.”
