Supervisors consider new fees for pet spaying, neutering

The Department of Animal Services is asking the board to approve an ordinance establishing a flat fee for non-profit spay and neuter surgeries, amending long-time rules that permit fees to be based on the weight of the dog or cat, according to Animal Services director Rob Miller.

“This is an effort to lower stray pet overpopulation,” he said.
