My dad, a veterinarian, sometimes complains about the "Disneyficiation of animals," which is when people become so used to thinking of humans in cutesy, anthropomorphic ways that they forget they're dealing with ANIMALS, not a cartoon. This is an example of the negative effects disneyfication can have, by creating such a vast dichotomy between how we perceive our pets will be and how they actually are. These unrealistic expectations lead to the animals' eventual rejection and abandonment.

"The numbers of rats in Berlin's animal shelters have increased in the past few weeks," Marcel Gäding, the spokesman for an animal rights association, told ddp.

Experts noted that there was a similar demand for spotted dogs after the film "101 Dalmatians" and clownfish after "Find Nemo."

Many of the Dalmatians ended up in the pound, while unwanted clownfish were often disposed off in the city's sewer system.
